Night Swimming

Ink black night
Dip a bony white quill
Blackest inkwells
Step into the night's
Soft fleshy bottom
Cord at my waist
To find the way back
Up to my chin
My head, the tip
Of the iceberg
My body the unseen
Up on tiptoes now
No one here
Just bats
Swooping to the side
Sliding under
In over my head
Knees bent, eyes closed
Suspended and warm
Heart beating in my ears
LUB A DUB
LUB A DUB

And then- delivered
Feet, dripping black
Onto white parchment sand
