A poem for Owen

Owen Owl
by Owen's dad

Owen owl who was born mid morning
In mid June Virginia humidity
Owen owl who left intact, is showing
The world that he is whole as whole can be
Owen owl who flies in our backyard
Whose fate would be to be my son
Spread your wings so you can star
It’s your play, and here’s act one
I promise that I will be
The father that I never knew
I promise that I will see
You become a man whose path is true
Owen owl. Who-
Hoo!

A poem for Shelby

Know Love Know Life
by Brian Parsons

When I have fears of being alone
I thank the lord for my wife and son,
And when my work is done and I go home
She will always be there when my day is done;
I know what waits, the best part of my day
My wife’s beautiful face and a wet kiss
A hot meal, to my heart she knows the way
When I’m not there the two of them I miss
Oh I fear without them I would be lost!
I would fill the void with a drink, or ten-
A bed so cold I’m awake with Frost
Fire and ice the latter I know must win
To stand alone I shudder to think
Our life and love, without it I sink
